Etching glass is an old craft dating back to the seventeenth century. With today’s materials you can use any type of glass, virgin glass is however easier to etch. Some Glass like Pyrex & recycled glass cannot be etched – so do a small test first. Note that etching is a permanent effect that cannot be removed. Delightful effects can be created on wine glasses, jam jars, bottles, window glass, mirrors and much more. Some soft metals can also be etched. Gives Glass a sandblasted affect.
Warning:
Heritage Etching Fluid is an extremely corrosive product.
Make sure protective glasses and gloves are worn.

Avoid any contact with skin or eyes, if contact occurs rinse with milk or water for at least 20 minutes and immediately call / consult a doctor.
If ingested drink large quantities of milk or water. And immediately call / consult a doctor.
Avoid breathing vapors.
Application:
Clean the glass well with methylated spirits or Heritage Glass Cleaner and a paper towel. (Be careful not to touch any areas to be etched – this will leave oil spots from your skin).
Use stencil gum to stick your design to the other side of the glass, not the side to be etched.
Either paint the area to be left clear with Etching Resist or use contact adhesive stencil.
Apply your Heritage etching fluid as thickly as possible with an ear bud or a small brush.
Leave the article to dry for 20 minutes.
Wash off the etching fluid with water and check that all the design work has been etched. (If the design has not been etched to your satisfaction you can re-apply the Etching Fluid).
Remove the Etching resist or the contact adhesive.
Wash the finished item with Glass Cleaner or soap and water.
You can paint on your design with a soft fine brush for fine details.
